The Giants looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Javion Cohen at slot 141 regardless, 30 picks early. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.
They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Tampa steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A real need, handled.
Circle this one: T.J. Tampa at No. 70 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
A reach for Braelon Allen in the 94th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jamari Thrash at pick 107 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid a round early for Trevor Keegan in Round 4, Pick 31, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Javion Cohen at the Round 5 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
