The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named edge rusher, a need the Seahawks walked right past. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
On value alone, Lew makes the weekend a net positive. If Washington Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
Chris Johnson at the 32nd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A conviction pick on Mike Washington Jr. at pick No. 64 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board had Connor Lew higher than the Round 3 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
