Somebody in pick 184 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Dolphins sat still while Jarrian Jones, the No. 136 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.
The Suamataia reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
A reach for Sedrick Van Pran in pick No. 55; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Brenden Rice in the 94th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had James Williams higher than the 133rd pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They barely believed it either: Jarrian Jones still on the board at No. 184. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They let Tylan Grable come to them and pounced at pick 241. It fills a real need, too.
