More right than wrong for the Eagles, and a B- to prove it.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Eagles shredded theirs for Tanor Bortolini. He came off 28 spots early, and the room will hear about it.

On value alone, Proctor makes the weekend a net positive. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Spending an early pick on linebacker with edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.22 · Pick 22 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 19
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.18 · Pick 50 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 59
They paid up for Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at Round 2, Pick 18 when waiting would have done the job. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 50
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots to take Junior Colson, a linebacker that was not the priority.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · DJ James · CB · rank 87
A quiet steal in the 97th pick: DJ James for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.24 · Pick 160 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 165
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Luke McCaffrey. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.34 · Pick 170 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 149
Steal is underselling it; Jarrian Jones at the 170th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.35 · Pick 171 · Caedan Wallace · OT · rank 180
They liked Caedan Wallace enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 5, Pick 35. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Tahj Washington · WR · rank 192
Tahj Washington at the Round 6 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.14 · Pick 189 · Tanor Bortolini · C · rank 217
Value said wait; Tanor Bortolini in the 189th overall pick says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.20 · Pick 240 · Josh Proctor · S · rank 215
Somehow Josh Proctor was still sitting there in slot 240, and they pounced on premier safety value. A need, and now a little less of one.
