The board owed the Commanders one, and it paid up: Garret Greenfield, the No. 216 name on the board, sitting there at slot 243 like a gift left on the doorstep.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They did well to land Bo Nix in pick 36, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 8 with a little surplus value in Jordan Morgan. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good price on Bralen Trice in the 67th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
Kris Abrams-Draine in No. 81 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Zak Zinter in pick No. 100 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Christian Jones in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They took Sione Vaki at par in slot 156, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They will replay Joe Milton III at No. 222 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Garret Greenfield at Round 7, Pick 23 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
