Detroit Lions

Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Lions.

The Lions torched the value chart for Khordae Sydnor, taking him 210 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.

They banked enough surplus on Green to cover a lot of smaller sins. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.18 · Pick 18 · Kenyon Sadiq · TE · rank 17
In the Round 1 slot they get a red-zone target to build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Gennings Dunker · OG · rank 52
A tidy little value on Gennings Dunker in Round 2, Pick 25, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Jude Bowry · OT · rank 130
Jude Bowry in slot 89 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.33 · Pick 97 · Trey Zuhn III · C · rank 127
A big swing on Trey Zuhn III at the 97th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.18 · Pick 118 · Darrell Jackson Jr. · DT · rank 106
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Darrell Jackson Jr. at the 118th pick is the proof. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.28 · Pick 128 · Nadame Tucker · DE-EDGE · rank 176
Nadame Tucker at pick 128 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.17 · Pick 157 · Ephesians Prysock · CB · rank 191
Ephesians Prysock at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.41 · Pick 181 · VJ Payne · S · rank 200
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for VJ Payne. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.24 · Pick 205 · Jeff Caldwell · WR · rank 192
Jeff Caldwell slid further than he should have, and Round 6, Pick 24 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.32 · Pick 213 · Taylen Green · QB · rank 193
Taylen Green in slot 213 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.6 · Pick 222 · Dasan McCullough · LB-EDGE · rank 322
A wild overpay on Dasan McCullough in pick No. 222, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.23 · Pick 239 · Khordae Sydnor · DL-EDGE · rank 449
Value said wait; Khordae Sydnor in No. 239 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
