The tape said wait; the Cowboys did not. Luke Reimer went at No. 212, a good 152 picks before the board was ready. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Polk at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Ja'Lynn Polk in pick No. 87 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A big swing on Edefuan Ulofoshio at slot 124, well ahead of any board in the building. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They talked themselves into Andrew Raym at Round 5, Pick 38, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Luke Reimer at the 212th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nick Andersen at No. 245 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
