The war room fell hard for Jordan Travis, and it showed at slot 76: 60 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Patrick Paul. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jordan Travis in No. 76 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nelson Ceaser at pick No. 108 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid up for Edefuan Ulofoshio at Round 5, Pick 12 when waiting would have done the job. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Cedric Johnson in the 160th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
By-the-book stuff, Roger Rosengarten at Round 5, Pick 32 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They reached into another round for Jaylen Harrell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, David Ugwoegbu went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
