Some picks age like wine; Behren Morton at the Round 7 slot will need to, sitting 79 spots clear of his grade.
That is an interior defensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain.
With safety, edge rusher and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on offensive lineman is the choice that costs them.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Germie Bernard in pick No. 57 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Anthony Hill Jr. in No. 64, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Christen Miller reach Round 3, Pick 21 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Skyler Bell at pick 99. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board fumbled Treydan Stukes all the way to slot 121, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went offensive lineman with J.C. Davis while clear needs at safety, edge rusher and other spots sat open.
Kendrick Law at pick No. 216 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nick Barrett at the Round 7 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Behren Morton at pick 237 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
