Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Trajan Jeffcoat at the 251st overall pick is 52 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The Greenfield pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a blindside protector at fair value. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for Edgerrin Cooper in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Max Melton at Round 2, Pick 26 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A premium they did not need to pay, Trey Benson a notch or two before his time. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value said wait; Cole Bishop in slot 91 says they were not listening. A minor itch, scratched.
Johnny Wilson in pick No. 127 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Jarrian Jones here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tanor Bortolini at slot 204 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
A real head-scratcher, Logan Lee in the 216th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Garret Greenfield in pick No. 243 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Trajan Jeffcoat this early at the 251st overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
