The Packers went off the board in a big way for John Emery Jr., 96 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Barrett pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The Hicks pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, quarterback and other spots.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
