The Vikings did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Danny Stutsman fell into slot 159. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They are betting Scott proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kaleb Johnson at slot 57. The roster fit checks out.
A safety of that caliber at pick No. 77 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tate Ratledge in the Round 3 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Xavier Scott in pick 138, miles early. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid sticker price for Pat Bryant in the 143rd pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They will replay Danny Stutsman at No. 159 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
