The board owed the Eagles one, and it paid up: Jordan Travis, the No. 143 name on the board, sitting there at No. 178 like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Johnson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Guyton at pick 50, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
No drama and no debate, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. went about where he belonged in pick No. 57. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
No edge and no loss on Tykee Smith in No. 97; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Theo Johnson at the Round 5 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jaylin Simpson in the 157th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 36, with Malik Washington worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jordan Travis in the 178th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land Eric Gentry in No. 246, just ahead of his grade. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
