Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys found their guy under center in Sanders: B-.

When a board-topper like Isaiah Bond slides to Round 5, Pick 11, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Crawshaw has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The whole projection now runs through Shedeur Sanders; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They went 8 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Shedeur Sanders · QB · rank 10
In pick No. 12 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Malaki Starks · S · rank 28
Nice patience on Malaki Starks, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Chris Paul Jr. · LB · rank 84
Chris Paul Jr. in the Round 3 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.11 · Pick 149 · Isaiah Bond · WR · rank 76
Taking Isaiah Bond in pick No. 149 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.33 · Pick 171 · Simeon Barrow Jr. · DL · rank 205
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Simeon Barrow Jr.. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.36 · Pick 174 · Jeremy Crawshaw · P · rank 236
Jeremy Crawshaw at Round 5, Pick 36 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R6.28 · Pick 204 · Dorian Strong · CB · rank 163
They will replay Dorian Strong at the 204th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R6.35 · Pick 211 · RJ Harvey · RB · rank 158
A top-tier running back at a bargain, RJ Harvey in slot 211, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.23 · Pick 239 · Bryson Nesbit · TE · rank 268
Value said wait; Bryson Nesbit in the 239th overall pick says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.31 · Pick 247 · Cooper Mays · C · rank 297
A wild overpay on Cooper Mays in pick 247, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
