There is reaching, and then there is Gino Garcia at No. 149. The Cowboys jumped the board by 132 and dared it to prove them wrong.
They have staked the next five years on Shedeur Sanders, which is the only story that really matters here. Hill falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Shedeur Sanders. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Fair-plus on Cameron Williams, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.

A wild overpay on Gino Garcia in pick No. 149, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Steal is underselling it; Jeffrey Bassa at pick 171 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They robbed the room for Kurtis Rourke here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They barely believed it either: Tommi Hill still on the board at No. 204. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Logan Parr in the Round 6 slot, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Karene Reid in the 239th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Tonka Hemingway at par in pick 247, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
