The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cowboys reached some 80 spots for Chandler Martin, and value like that does not grow back. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
On value alone, Nash makes the weekend a net positive. They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 12 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
A tidy bit of business in the 44th overall pick, where Malaki Starks graded well above the range. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A conviction pick on Danny Stutsman at slot 76 that the board grades a round light. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Jacob Parrish was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 11, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They reached into another round for Luke Lachey, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jordan James at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They robbed the room for Quincy Riley here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nick Nash at No. 211 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kevin Jennings well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
