You could see the war room lean forward. Carson Schwesinger at Round 5, Pick 11 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
Every board in the league had Mills lower, and that gap is the story. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th pick they get a load in the middle, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
No drama and no debate, Kaleb Johnson went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached into another round for Rylie Mills, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
Carson Schwesinger at No. 149 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Raheim Sanders at pick No. 171 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Isaac TeSlaa this early at pick 174. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They reached a country mile for John Williams at slot 204, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A real head-scratcher, Torricelli Simpkins III in the 211th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach on Maxen Hook in the 239th overall pick; the board had better options right there. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
No edge and no loss on Brandon Adams in slot 247; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
