If confidence were a draft strategy, the Patriots would have aced it. Gino Garcia at pick 217 is 64 spots clear of where he belonged.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Hunter pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get juice off the edge, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A reach for Jonah Savaiinaea in the Round 2 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board had Alfred Collins higher than the 69th pick, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jalen Royals at pick No. 77 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.

They left a pile of value on the table to take Addison West this early at Round 5, Pick 6. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.

A tidy bit of business in the Round 7 slot, where Akili Arnold graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jarquez Hunter in No. 238 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
