They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Giants' quarterback, full stop.
The Simpson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
On the needs board they went 4 of 9, with safety the one that mattered most. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

They paid sticker price for Drake Maye in Round 1, Pick 6, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had Tyler Nubin higher than the 39th pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at pick 47. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They barely believed it either: Tyler Guyton still on the board at pick No. 70. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Zak Zinter at the 107th overall pick is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A quiet steal in No. 143: James Williams for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They will replay Jaylin Simpson at slot 185 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
