Philadelphia Eagles

Good, not great, for the Eagles: B.

Future A-

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Eagles reached some 33 spots for Jaylen Wright, and value like that does not grow back.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 8 of 9 of the wish list covered. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Their trades came out a wash either way.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.18 · Pick 50 · Keon Coleman · WR · rank 44
Keon Coleman at pick 50 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R2.22 · Pick 54 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 53
Kingsley Suamataia at the 54th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 65
A straight-up fair deal on Payton Wilson at Round 2, Pick 31, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R3.15 · Pick 79 · Caelen Carson · CB · rank 85
Caelen Carson in No. 79 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.31 · Pick 94 · Leonard Taylor III · DL · rank 113
Value said wait; Leonard Taylor III in the 94th overall pick says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 121
They reached into another round for Darius Robinson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.10 · Pick 110 · Max Melton · CB · rank 112
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Max Melton. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Cam Hart · CB · rank 139
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Cam Hart. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.30 · Pick 130 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 163
Jaylen Wright at pick No. 130 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
R4.32 · Pick 132 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 159
Braelon Allen at the Round 4 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · James Williams · S · rank 135
James Williams at the 133rd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.9 · Pick 145 · Theo Johnson · TE · rank 152
They paid sticker price for Theo Johnson in No. 145, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
