Some picks age like wine; Barryn Sorrell at Round 5, Pick 33 will need to, sitting 143 spots clear of his grade.
Getting Giddens where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Omarion Hampton at the Round 2 slot. It fills a real need, too.
A premium they did not need to pay, Danny Stutsman a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at pick 150 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Chase Lundt in No. 170. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached into another round for Barryn Sorrell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Brady Cook in pick No. 174 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board had Dont'e Thornton Jr. higher than the 190th overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking DJ Giddens in pick 211 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A wild overpay on Shilo Sanders in No. 249, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A minor itch, scratched.
