You can hear the double-takes from here. The Cowboys took Collin Oliver at pick No. 249, roughly 74 spots before his name belonged. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The Gordon II value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A reach on Alfred Collins in slot 44; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value with a capital V on Quinshon Judkins in No. 76, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They liked Chase Lundt enough to skip the value, taking him in the 150th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kurtis Rourke in pick 170 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
By-the-book stuff, Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nohl Williams in No. 174 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Oronde Gadsden II at the Round 6 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Ollie Gordon II at the 211th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
Collin Oliver at pick No. 249 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
