The rest of the league had time to spare on Phillip Webb; the Cowboys did not wait, grabbing him 134 spots ahead at No. 204. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

On value alone, Pierce makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Tetairoa McMillan · WR · rank 11
In pick 12 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.14 · Pick 46 · Alfred Collins · DT · rank 56
They liked Alfred Collins enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 46. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Carson Schwesinger · LB · rank 69
Good price on Carson Schwesinger in pick No. 76, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.16 · Pick 118 · Kyle McCord · QB · rank 117
No edge and no loss on Kyle McCord in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.11 · Pick 149 · Jaydon Blue · RB · rank 173
A big swing on Jaydon Blue at Round 5, Pick 11, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.33 · Pick 171 · Hollin Pierce · OT · rank 135
Taking Hollin Pierce in the 171st pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.36 · Pick 174 · Ollie Gordon II · RB · rank 171
Ollie Gordon II in pick No. 174 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.28 · Pick 204 · Phillip Webb · DL-EDGE · rank 338
Phillip Webb at slot 204 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R6.35 · Pick 211 · Isaac TeSlaa · WR · rank 236
They left a pile of value on the table to take Isaac TeSlaa this early at No. 211. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.23 · Pick 239 · Shilo Sanders · S · rank 283
They reached into another round for Shilo Sanders, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R7.26 · Pick 242 · Justin Walley · CB · rank 314
This one needs a full-page explanation: Justin Walley in the 242nd pick, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.31 · Pick 247 · Shaun Dolac · LB · rank 323
They talked themselves into Shaun Dolac at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
