The Cowboys bet big and early on Que Robinson, 75 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
That Hancock pick is the receipt they will wave around later. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 12 they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at the 44th pick is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Quinshon Judkins at the 76th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nice patience on Oronde Gadsden II, who had no business lasting to No. 150. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kurtis Rourke in pick 170 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
They talked themselves into Que Robinson at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dont'e Thornton Jr.. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They will replay Ollie Gordon II at the 190th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached into another round for Torricelli Simpkins III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Jordan Hancock here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
