Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Edefuan Ulofoshio, the No. 156 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 219.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Wright reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a run-stuffing presence up front, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Chop Robinson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Javon Bullard at pick 57 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ja'Lynn Polk in Round 3, Pick 25, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Bucky Irving at the 91st pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Cedric Gray at slot 125 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A wild overpay on Jaylen Wright in pick No. 135, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They read the board right and Andrew Raym was the payoff at the 203rd overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Christian Jones at slot 217 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 219th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
By-the-book stuff, Demani Richardson at pick 246 squarely in line with his ranking. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
