This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Karene Reid, the No. 116 name on the board, stolen at the 186th overall pick. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
So much rides on Shedeur Sanders that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
The Kight reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 1 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
In the 11th pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They will replay Omarion Hampton at slot 42 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tate Ratledge at No. 73 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Circle this one: Chris Paul Jr. at the 149th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They barely believed it either: Cody Simon still on the board at the Round 5 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Willie Lampkin in pick 170, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Gunnar Helm in the 171st overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Karene Reid at pick No. 186 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Amari Kight at Round 6, Pick 34 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
