The rest of the league will want that one back. Jalen McMillan tumbling to the Chiefs in slot 140 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get a blindside protector at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They read the board right and Adonai Mitchell was the payoff at No. 41. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let a cornerback like Terrion Arnold reach the Round 2 slot and blink. They did not. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ja'Lynn Polk in the 99th pick, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jalen McMillan in pick 140 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Jaylin Simpson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Christian Jones in Round 5, Pick 36 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Daijun Edwards at the 222nd overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 248th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kenny Logan Jr.. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
