If confidence were a draft strategy, the Packers would have aced it. Demani Richardson at the Round 6 slot is 29 spots clear of where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Getting Odunze where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a weapon on the perimeter at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Calen Bullock in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chris Braswell. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy little value on Mike Sainristil in No. 88, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Bucky Irving at the 91st overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They jumped the gun on Cedric Gray, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor itch, scratched.
Value said wait; Jaylen Wright in pick 135 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Christian Jones in the 203rd overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Demani Richardson in the 217th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Omar Speights at slot 219. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Xavier Thomas at pick No. 246 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
