Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+.

The Cowboys torched the value chart for Barryn Sorrell, taking him 129 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

The Majors pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.12 · Pick 44 · Xavier Restrepo · WR · rank 49
Xavier Restrepo in the 44th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R2.17 · Pick 49 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 37
Tyler Booker slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 17 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Tyleik Williams · DT · rank 54
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tyleik Williams in No. 57. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Andrew Mukuba · S · rank 71
Good price on Andrew Mukuba in pick No. 76, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Gunnar Helm · TE · rank 70
The board fumbled Gunnar Helm all the way to slot 89, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.23 · Pick 124 · Dylan Sampson · RB · rank 43
A running back of that caliber at the 124th pick is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
R4.25 · Pick 126 · Danny Stutsman · LB · rank 86
Danny Stutsman in pick 126 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.11 · Pick 148 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 114
Cam Skattebo in the 148th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.20 · Pick 157 · Barryn Sorrell · LB-EDGE · rank 286
This one needs a full-page explanation: Barryn Sorrell in Round 5, Pick 20, miles early. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R5.31 · Pick 168 · Miles Frazier · OG · rank 209
Miles Frazier at pick No. 168 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.33 · Pick 170 · Le'Veon Moss · RB · rank 149
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Le'Veon Moss in the 170th pick, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.34 · Pick 171 · Ricardo Hallman · CB · rank 210
Ricardo Hallman at slot 171 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.12 · Pick 187 · Jake Majors · C · rank 93
Jake Majors at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
