The Texans did not so much draft Eyabi Okie-Anoma as overpay for him, 145 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
They banked enough surplus on Wilson to cover a lot of smaller sins. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 27 they get a home-run threat at receiver, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They liked Edgerrin Cooper enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 53. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Patrick Paul at pick No. 88 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Johnny Wilson in pick 121 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Braelon Allen at Round 4, Pick 27 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Circle this one: Cam Hart at the 158th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
