The steal of the weekend belongs to the Commanders and Skattebo: B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Cam Skattebo got past him. The Commanders do not have to explain a thing at slot 202.

A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.27 · Pick 27 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 22
In the Round 1 slot they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. More want than need.
R2.28 · Pick 60 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 37
Tyler Booker at pick No. 60 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.15 · Pick 79 · Tyler Warren · TE · rank 44
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.9 · Pick 146 · Barrett Carter · LB · rank 82
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 146 is the definition of value, full stop. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 113
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to pick 202, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
R7.20 · Pick 236 · Jared Wilson · C · rank 215
Circle this one: Jared Wilson at Round 7, Pick 20 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.30 · Pick 246 · Jaylen Reed · S · rank 227
They barely believed it either: Jaylen Reed still on the board at slot 246. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
