There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Texans started one anyway for Gabe Hall, 35 picks ahead of schedule. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through offensive lineman. The Edwards pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th pick they get a double-digit-sack hope, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
A tidy bit of business in slot 53, where Xavier Legette graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Johnny Wilson at the 88th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A running back of that caliber at Round 4, Pick 21 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board had Junior Colson higher than No. 127, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Gabe Hall well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Blake Watson in pick 239 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Phil Jurkovec at Round 7, Pick 22. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
