Boards are made to be trusted, and the Texans shredded theirs for Eyabi Okie-Anoma. He came off 142 spots early, and the room will hear about it. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: running back settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Jonah Elliss in Round 2, Pick 21; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Malachi Corley at No. 88 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Good price on Junior Colson in slot 121, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A tidy little value on Cam Hart in the 127th pick, a step better than break-even. A minor itch, scratched.
This one needs a full-page explanation: De'Corian Clark in the 158th overall pick, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They did well to land Blake Watson in slot 239, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A big swing on Eyabi Okie-Anoma at the 242nd overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
