Call it larceny. Malachi Corley sat on the board until Round 4, Pick 21, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice.
Tupuola-Fetui has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: running back settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 27 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Circle this one: Keon Coleman at the 53rd pick is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Edgerrin Cooper still on the board at pick No. 88. It fills a real need, too.
Malachi Corley in Round 4, Pick 21 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Somehow Braelon Allen was still sitting there in slot 127, and they pounced on premier running back value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value said wait; Zion Tupuola-Fetui in the 158th overall pick says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Good price on Blake Watson in the Round 7 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Phil Jurkovec in pick 242 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
