Nobody else had Eyabi Okie-Anoma anywhere near slot 239. The Texans did, by 145 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
On value alone, Pritchett makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 27 they get a matchup problem out wide, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They talked themselves into Payton Wilson at No. 53, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A quiet steal in pick No. 88: Johnny Wilson for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Braelon Allen at the 121st pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Junior Colson at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Steal is underselling it; Nehemiah Pritchett at Round 5, Pick 22 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Eyabi Okie-Anoma well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Phil Jurkovec slipping to the Round 7 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
