Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
If Okie-Anoma pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for Jordan Morgan in Round 2, Pick 2, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value with a capital V on Malachi Corley in pick No. 68, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Javon Baker at the 103rd pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Ben Sinnott at the 137th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Daijun Edwards at the Round 6 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jaylan Ford at No. 193 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at pick 231 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
