Boards are made to be trusted, and the Patriots shredded theirs for Nick Nash. He came off 147 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
The Higgins steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.
If Wyatt Milum and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 3 they get a long-term starter on the line, reach and all.
Aireontae Ersery at the 39th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tyler Booker in No. 70 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A real head-scratcher, Antwaun Powell-Ryland in the 80th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nick Nash. It fills a real need, too.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nohl Williams this early at Round 5, Pick 3. A minor itch, scratched.
Cam Skattebo at No. 221 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jay Higgins at the 223rd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Seth McLaughlin at pick No. 235 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
