The tape said wait; the Texans did not. Jayson Jones went at pick No. 239, a good 58 picks before the board was ready. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Corley steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They will regret leaving offensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Value with a capital V on Rome Odunze in Round 1, Pick 27, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Payton Wilson this early at the 53rd overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Johnny Wilson slid further than he should have, and No. 88 is lovely value for the wide receiver. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Malachi Corley in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cam Hart at slot 127 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Value said wait; Xavier Thomas in the 158th pick says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
