You could see the war room lean forward. Xavier Legette at pick 59 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
They will need Clark to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 23 they get a ballhawk on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter.
Xavier Legette in Round 2, Pick 27 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They took Marist Liufau at par in the 85th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Will Shipley at No. 123 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach for Malik Mustapha in pick No. 127; a little patience would have been rewarded. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
De'Corian Clark at the 164th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They will replay Blake Watson at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had cheaper options than Tanner McLachlan at slot 248, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
