The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Vikings spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The McCaffrey steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They are betting Eichenberg proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In No. 23 they get a load in the middle at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
The board had Christian Mahogany higher than the 108th pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A conviction pick on Tommy Eichenberg at slot 129 that the board grades a round light. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Tykee Smith slid further than he should have, and pick No. 157 is lovely value for the safety. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Luke McCaffrey at Round 5, Pick 31. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good price on Decamerion Richardson in pick 177, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 7 slot with a little surplus value in Tylan Grable. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Ryan Watts at the 232nd pick, value and slot in agreement. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
