They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The Hart value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Paul has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 3 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Patrick Paul at Round 2, Pick 2 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Xavier Legette in slot 68 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A wild overpay on Ben Sinnott in pick No. 104, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They barely believed it either: Cam Hart still on the board at No. 136. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board had cheaper options than Zion Tupuola-Fetui at the Round 6 slot, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They reached a country mile for Kenny Logan Jr. at the 229th pick, and the board is aghast. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
