After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
That Flournoy pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The McGregor reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Nate Wiggins in pick No. 36 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jordan Morgan at the 40th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Cade Stover in the 67th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They let Bralen Trice come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Zak Zinter at pick 100 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Mason McCormick at No. 139 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached into another round for Braiden McGregor, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Ryan Flournoy in slot 222 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
