The rest of the league had time to spare on LaDarius Henderson; the Dolphins did not wait, grabbing him 55 spots ahead at pick 198.
That Jones pick is the receipt they will wave around later. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 21 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No edge and no loss on Kingsley Suamataia in Round 2, Pick 23; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached a country mile for Layden Robinson at the Round 5 slot, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid up for Delmar Glaze at slot 184 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for LaDarius Henderson. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Sheridan Jones at the 241st overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
