The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jordan Magee, the No. 202 name on the board, in No. 246.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The cost of the Allen reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 25 they get a weapon on the perimeter at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
T.J. Tampa in No. 41 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
T'Vondre Sweat in Round 2, Pick 25 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No drama and no debate, Bucky Irving went about where he belonged in pick No. 88. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Mike Sainristil in slot 91 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Circle this one: Marist Liufau at the 125th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Braelon Allen well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board had Ethan Driskell higher than the Round 6 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A premium they did not need to pay, Trevor Keegan a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They took Jontrey Hunter at par in No. 219, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
You do not let a linebacker like Jordan Magee reach pick 246 and blink. They did not. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
