They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Fernando Mendoza is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Getting Caldwell where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

The McNeil-Warren pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, running back and other spots still on the board.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.1 · Pick 1 · Fernando Mendoza · QB · rank 4
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A real need, handled.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Dillon Thieneman · S · rank 34
By-the-book stuff, Dillon Thieneman at No. 36 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Emmanuel McNeil-Warren · S · rank 51
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, running back and other spots to take Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, a safety that was not the priority.
R4.2 · Pick 102 · Logan Jones · C · rank 88
Logan Jones slid further than he should have, and the 102nd overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.17 · Pick 117 · Treydan Stukes · CB · rank 93
Treydan Stukes at pick No. 117 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.34 · Pick 134 · J.C. Davis · OT · rank 134
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on J.C. Davis. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.35 · Pick 175 · Ar'maj Reed-Adams · OG · rank 165
They let Ar'maj Reed-Adams come to them and pounced at the Round 5 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.1 · Pick 182 · Aaron Anderson · WR · rank 173
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Aaron Anderson at the 182nd pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.4 · Pick 185 · Taylen Green · QB · rank 184
They paid sticker price for Taylen Green in slot 185, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.27 · Pick 208 · Jeff Caldwell · WR · rank 183
The board fumbled Jeff Caldwell all the way to Round 6, Pick 27, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.3 · Pick 219 · Keyshaun Elliott · LB · rank 210
Value with a capital V on Keyshaun Elliott in the 219th pick, a genuine coup. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
