Boards are made to be trusted, and the 49ers shredded theirs for Logan Fano. He came off 75 spots early, and the room will hear about it. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Getting Heidenreich where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 27 they get a matchup weapon at tight end, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Bishop Fitzgerald at Round 4, Pick 27 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Fair-plus on Jude Bowry, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Trey Moore in the Round 4 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Logan Fano in the 180th pick, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They will replay Eli Heidenreich at pick No. 256 for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
