It is the swing that defines the weekend: Cole Payton in the 141st pick, a good 60 spots before the room expected him.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Lance value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a three-down second-level presence, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
No edge and no loss on Emmanuel Pregnon in pick 38; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jake Slaughter. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A premium they did not need to pay, Elijah Sarratt a notch or two before his time. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A slide stopped in the 106th pick, with Bryce Lance worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
