Boards are made to be trusted, and the Bills shredded theirs for George Gumbs Jr.. He came off 86 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The Cameron pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Value with a capital V on CJ Allen in Round 2, Pick 15, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board had Christen Miller higher than No. 65, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid a round early for Bryce Lance in slot 78, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kamari Ramsey is a better player than pick 91 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay Ja'Kobi Lane at the 126th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Fair-plus on Beau Stephens, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid up for Kaleb Elarms-Orr at slot 168 when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
George Gumbs Jr. at the 182nd overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Josh Cameron in pick 220 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
