Every other box got a look, but interior defensive lineman did not. The Giants will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
Reaching for Zinter left real value on the table behind him. That Wiggins pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a true top target at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Carson Beck at pick No. 37 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 54th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A premium they did not need to pay, Zak Zinter a notch or two before his time. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Blake Fisher in the Round 4 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Zach Frazier in pick 142 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They liked Christian Mahogany enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 183. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
