Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Chargers spent pick No. 256 on Keilan Robinson, a name the board had a full 127 spots lower.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Bullock steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A slide stopped in No. 34, with Brian Thomas Jr. worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Edgerrin Cooper at the 37th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Value said wait; Bralen Trice in the 41st pick says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Sedrick Van Pran in pick No. 69 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Calen Bullock in the Round 3 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Gabriel Murphy at Round 3, Pick 34. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nothing to complain about; Christian Mahogany went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ben Sinnott well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Josh Newton at Round 4, Pick 27 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy little value on Johnny Wilson in the Round 4 slot, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
By-the-book stuff, Christian Jones at slot 139 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No edge and no loss on Jacob Cowing in pick No. 140; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Justin Rogers at par in No. 199, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy bit of business in pick 223, where Josh Proctor graded well above the range. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
A real head-scratcher, Keilan Robinson in the 256th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
